India's air cargo operations to Russia face significant disruption following a temporary suspension of Russia-related shipments at eight Adani Group-managed airports, including Mumbai's two facilities. Approximately 150 tonnes of Indian exports—primarily pharmaceuticals, machinery and spare parts—have been stranded over the past week. The stoppage coincides with BlackRock's $1 billion equity investment in Adani Airport Holdings, raising questions about sanctions-related pressures. Delhi Airport, which operates independently of Adani, continues accepting Russia flights including Aeroflot services. These typically handle cargo transshipped through Mumbai. A Volga-Dnepr charter was rerouted to Delhi after being denied access to Navi Mumbai, with cargo held for two weeks. Ocean freight routes face parallel challenges. Major container carriers including MSC and CMA CGM have suspended bookings from India to Russia's Novorossiysk port due to escalating drone attacks and regional security concerns.
