Air cargo demand will accelerate unevenly across routes and product categories during the post-Golden Week peak season, with technology shipments emerging as the primary growth driver, according to CH Robinson.

Semiconductors, servers and consumer electronics are sustaining the strongest momentum on transpacific lanes. New device launches add urgency to shipments, while general cargo will grow gradually as retailers stock ahead of holiday promotions.

E-commerce demand, historically a major peak-season anchor, is expected to decline due to tariff impacts in the US and European markets. Carriers adjusting schedules to capitalize on concentrated tech demand toward the US could create capacity constraints on European and intra-Asia routes.

Freighter aircraft availability may become particularly tight, as passenger belly capacity cannot fully replace dedicated freighter service for all cargo types. Asia-Pacific to US volumes were running 17 percent above year-ago levels in mid-September, with technology-heavy origins posting even stronger growth.
