Air cargo operators are intensifying humanitarian missions following devastating earthquakes in Venezuela that struck on June 24, killing more than 3,500 people. A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit outside Caracas, triggering widespread destruction across the country.

Charter broker Air Charter Service deployed its first relief flight early last week, a Boeing 737-800F carrying approximately 10 tons of satellite communications equipment. The company has since arranged multiple additional charters through its European, Asian and US offices.

Relief cargo includes medical equipment, hygiene kits, emergency shelters, mosquito nets, kitchen sets, water tanks and a mobile field hospital. ACS stationed two personnel in Caracas to coordinate airport operations and oversee cargo distribution. The company expects several additional charters to depart this week.

Freight forwarder network WCAworld launched an emergency foundation appeal to support affected communities. The organization leveraged members already operating in the region to identify needs and coordinate aid distribution.
