Air France KLM Martinair Cargo is upgrading its perishables handling capabilities at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport with an automated storage and retrieval system designed to manage growing cold-chain volumes. The carrier installed a 10-foot-wide elevating transfer vehicle that serves 58 storage decks, with 17 positioned in temperature-controlled zones. The system went live at the end of September. The automation reduces manual handling of unit load devices and pallets while optimizing internal cargo flows and storage efficiency. The investment strengthens the carrier's cold-chain operations at CDG, enabling faster processing of temperature-sensitive shipments. The solution supports both current demand and future expansion of automated storage at the airport.
