Major carriers are bolstering cargo capacity on key international routes as the winter schedule approaches. This addresses anticipated constraints on belly-space availability on passenger flights. Air Canada Cargo will launch 767-300F freighter service to Amsterdam beginning October 29, with two weekly flights. New routes to Monterrey (three weekly) and Panama City (two weekly) also begin in late October. Lufthansa Cargo is increasing select U.S. frequencies, while Air France adds Cairo connectivity and JAL and Cathay Cargo expand transpacific options. The seasonal capacity challenge arises when reduced passenger schedules limit available cargo hold space on traditional routes. Air Canada's Amsterdam service targets the transatlantic market, providing dedicated main-deck capacity to serve European customers and enabling connections throughout its global network. Forwarders face a renegotiation period as airlines restructure freight allocations ahead of the winter timetable shift.
