Mark Colson will become president and CEO of the American Trucking Associations on December 1, taking the helm following Chris Spear's departure in late August. Colson has led the Alabama Trucking Association since 2019, where he expanded membership and achieved consecutive revenue records across all organizational entities. He previously worked with Alabama business groups including the Business Council of Alabama. At the national level, Colson served on the ATA's Strategic Priorities Committee and Truck PAC Board of Directors, and sits on the Advisory Committee of the American Transportation Research Institute. His peers at state trucking associations elected him vice chairman of the Trucking Association Executives Council. Colson becomes the 10th president and CEO since the ATA's founding in 1933. A Huntingdon College graduate, he holds an MBA from Troy University. Scott Smith, chairman of the Alabama Trucking Association and CEO of PS Logistics, praised Colson's work, noting that he "grew our membership and broke revenue records year over year for all our entities, and established our political action committee as one of the best and most effective in the state."
