Amazon Air Cargo is establishing a humanitarian air corridor to Venezuela following last month's devastating twin earthquakes. The earthquakes killed more than 3,800 people and left nearly 2 million requiring assistance. The e-commerce giant will operate seven weekly flights from Miami to Caracas carrying relief supplies, with the first departure occurring Thursday. Boeing 767-200 freighters operated by 21 Air will transport aid coordinated through Airlink, a nonprofit organization matching humanitarian needs with airline capacity. The U.S. Department of State and United Nations World Food Program are coordinating ground operations and airport access in Venezuela. Seko Logistics operates a Miami warehouse for supply screening and pallet consolidation. The earthquakes damaged Caracas's Simon Bolivar airport, with only one runway operational. Airlink President Paloma Adams-Allen said Amazon's donated lift capacity eliminates logistical bottlenecks in reaching affected communities. The earthquakes have impacted 8 million people, including 680,000 children. This marks Amazon's first direct partnership with Airlink for disaster response.
