Amazon has expanded its less-than-truckload service to third-party warehouses, distribution centers and retail locations nationwide, significantly escalating the e-commerce giant's logistics ambitions. The expansion follows the April 2025 launch of its LTL offering, which initially served only inbound shipments to Amazon facilities. The new hub-and-spoke model delivers palletized freight at lower rates than traditional LTL carriers. Amazon now accepts shipments of one to six pallets weighing 150 to 15,000 pounds. The service includes next-day live pickup for orders placed by 5 p.m., same-day pickup via drop-trailer methodology, and standing daily pickups for high-volume shippers. The rollout reflects demand from Amazon selling partners seeking enhanced visibility and reliability. Industry analysts expect the move to create competitive pressure on established LTL operators including FedEx Freight, Old Dominion and Estes.
