Amazon, the sixth-largest containerized importer into the United States, faces a class action lawsuit. The suit alleges the company raised consumer prices to offset tariffs that were subsequently invalidated by the Supreme Court, then declined to pursue refunds it was legally eligible to claim.

The complaint was filed May 15 in the Western District of Washington by Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro, a litigation firm specializing in large-scale consumer cases.

The suit contends Amazon violated Washington state consumer protection law. The filing challenges the company's decision not to seek tariff refunds following the high court's ruling, despite having passed increased costs to consumers when the duties were in effect.

The case centers on whether Amazon should have pursued available remedies and returned savings to shoppers.
