Amtrak's inaugural Airo trainset has completed manufacturing and departed Siemens' Sacramento facility. This marks a significant step toward service on the Northeast Corridor, with revenue service expected in 2027 following testing phases. The trains will feature modern interiors, improved accessibility, and enhanced comfort on the nation's busiest rail corridor.

Meanwhile, Sacramento Regional Transit and Women's Transportation Seminar Sacramento unveiled a transit wrap and mural celebrating women in the transportation industry on May 21. Visual artist Aliyah Sidqe created the installation, which explores themes of identity and community connection. The project was inspired by similar public art initiatives that emphasize art's role in celebrating diverse communities.

In other rail developments, Union Pacific's historic Big Boy No. 4014 is accessible via Metra's UP West Line in Chicago, while Vancouver's Broadway Subway project has advanced to train testing.
