Anderson Trucking Service, the Minnesota-based carrier, has appointed Mike Omann to vice president of enterprise sales. Omann rejoins the company after nearly four years leading executive sales efforts at Uber Freight. The hire reflects intensifying competition for sales talent within trucking as carriers vie for larger customer accounts. Industry-wide, truckload contract rates have climbed more than 10%. Carriers are securing pricing gains that would have taken years to accumulate in previous market conditions. Separately, less-than-truckload operators continue reshaping their commercial strategies. FedEx Freight expanded its chief technology officer's mandate to encompass commercial strategy following recent executive changes. Meanwhile, freight marketplaces including 123Loadboard and Direct Freight are consolidating to help brokers and carriers address persistent capacity matching challenges.
