Arizona law enforcement agencies sidelined five commercial drivers and two vehicles during a four-hour safety operation July 1 in Buckeye along State Route 85. The Arrive Alive Arizona detail involved Arizona Highway Patrol's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, ADOT's Enforcement and Compliance Division, and Buckeye Police Department personnel. Inspectors examined 20 commercial motor vehicles and documented 66 violations overall. Five drivers and two vehicles were placed out of service due to safety and regulatory breaches. Enforcement officers also weighed 348 commercial vehicles in the corridor. They identified five overweight trucks and completed four Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspections. One additional vehicle was removed from service. The operation targeted federal and state safety compliance, unsafe equipment, and driver qualifications. The action reflects broader Southwest enforcement expansion, with similar intensified operations underway in Texas and California focusing on licensing compliance, equipment defects, and hours-of-service violations.
