Semiconductor and hardware shipments drove another month of growth for Asia Pacific carriers in June. The international freight load factor rose to 62 percent as freight volumes increased.
The Association of Asia Pacific Airlines reported demand expanded 7.0 percent in the first half of 2026, buoyed by sustained orders for high-value technology components and time-sensitive goods. Southeast Asian air cargo operations have shifted decisively toward semiconductors and AI hardware, displacing e-commerce as the dominant cargo segment.
Yet regional carriers confront mounting pressures. Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East continue driving fuel price swings and eroding operating margins. Looking ahead, AAPA cautioned that weaker business confidence and trade policy uncertainty may constrain market expansion through the remainder of the year.
