ASL Aviation Acquires Two 747 Freighters to Bolster Long-Haul Capacity

ASL Aviation Holdings purchased two Boeing 747-400 freighter aircraft from Seattle-based lessor Altavair, the Dublin-based carrier announced Monday. The jumbo jets were previously leased to subsidiary ASL Airlines Belgium and will ensure uninterrupted long-haul air transportation service. The acquisition supports ASL's expansion in Australia and New Zealand, which includes transferring four Boeing 737-800 converted freighters from its European fleet to ASL Airlines Australia. The first aircraft is expected to arrive in the region imminently, with all transfers completing over several months. ASL Airlines Belgium operates 32 active freighter aircraft, including four 747-400s and 24 Boeing 737-800 narrowbodies. ASL's global network spans airlines in Ireland, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Australia, plus joint ventures in Thailand and India. The carrier operates 150 aircraft servicing express delivery companies UPS and Amazon, along with FedEx and Qantas Freight in Australia.
