Astral resumes China-Africa freighter corridor with weekly Guangzhou-Nairobi service

Astral Aviation has restarted its weekly Boeing 767-300 freighter service between Guangzhou, China and Nairobi, Kenya, with onward connections to Maputo, Mozambique. The route, initially launched in August 2024, marked the carrier's entry into the Chinese market and supports shipments of e-commerce goods, pharmaceuticals, perishables, industrial equipment and general cargo. Astral partnered with ground service providers TAM Group and Kingfer Lin to restore operations. The carrier has expanded its China presence since establishing the Guangzhou corridor, adding a Haikou-Johannesburg route via Nairobi in 2025, which it restarted in July in cooperation with Fly Noor Aviation. The resumption reflects growing trade flows between China and Africa, according to the carrier's statement.
