Atlas Expands Kodiak Autonomous Fleet to 100 Trucks by Mid-2027

Atlas Energy Solutions is scaling its driverless trucking operation in the Permian Basin, announcing plans to grow its autonomous fleet from 28 trucks to 100 by mid-2027. The proppant supplier added a second simultaneous load-out point along its Dune Express conveyor system, enabling concurrent deliveries from Texas and New Mexico locations roughly 90 minutes apart. The expansion allows Atlas to serve a broader geographic region in the basin rather than sequencing loads from a single origin. As of March 31, the existing 28-truck fleet had completed more than 7,000 loads across 15 routes. The fleet hauled over 450,000 tons of sand and logged more than 23,500 autonomous hours in the first quarter alone. The fleet set a single-day record of 176 deliveries on July 20. Atlas pairs autonomous transportation with logistics management to address schedule-sensitive sand delivery for oil and gas operators.
