Aurora Innovation plans to deploy more than 30,000 driverless trucks by 2030, projecting $5 billion in revenue and a 60% gross margin that year. The autonomous vehicle developer expects to end 2026 with 200 trucks operating, generating an $80 million revenue run rate. Its autonomous driving system has completed over 500,000 driverless miles since commercial launch.

Aurora now targets gross margin breakeven in the first half of 2027 with approximately 500 trucks deployed—a shift from its prior 2026 exit target. The company plans positive free cash flow on a run-rate basis by end of 2028 with roughly 7,500 trucks.

Capital expenditures are projected at $185 million in 2027, declining below $50 million in 2028. Werner Enterprises is negotiating with Aurora on economics and contract terms, with executives indicating viability improves at scale.
