Freight factoring company BasicBlock has acquired TrueNorth, a dispatcher and loadboard platform, marking a major expansion into operational services for independent carriers. The deal unites two startups focused on serving owner-operators and small fleets. BasicBlock, based in Lincoln, Nebraska, has built its business helping carriers manage cash flow through factoring. Following a $78 million financing round, the company aims to eventually offer zero-interest same-day factoring by building a broader financial ecosystem. TrueNorth, founded in December 2019 and based in Austin, Texas, provides dispatch and load-matching capabilities to reduce administrative burdens for independent truckers. BasicBlock CEO Taylor Monks said evolving market conditions required the company to move beyond financing alone. Transaction terms were not disclosed.
