Best Buy elevated Duane Scarboro to chief fulfillment and operations officer, effective immediately. In the newly expanded role, Scarboro oversees sourcing, supply chain, fulfillment, delivery, service and in-store execution. Scarboro joined Best Buy in 2003 and previously served as senior vice president of supply chain distribution operations, managing all distribution center operations, engineering and automation solutions. His promotion comes as incoming CEO Jason Bonfig assumes leadership. The retailer is pursuing improvements in order accuracy and shipping speed through infrastructure investments. Best Buy deployed autonomous guided vehicles at a New York facility and opened a Texas delivery distribution center—its 20th in the network—to support next-day delivery capabilities. The company also designated FedEx as its primary parcel carrier last year.
