BNSF Railway has unveiled three locomotives painted in a patriotic America250 scheme to mark the nation's 250th anniversary. The units are numbered 250, 1776, and 2026. They feature red, white and blue colors alongside the America250 logo. The paint design draws inspiration from Burlington Northern and Santa Fe heritage schemes from 1976, incorporating red and white striped noses, white cabs, red diagonal side stripes, and blue underframes and fuel tanks. Katie Farmer, BNSF president and CEO, said the locomotives honor railroading's role in connecting communities and driving economic growth throughout American history. Mid-America Car Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri handled the specialized painting. The commemorative units represent one of several railroads celebrating the upcoming Semiquincentennial through special liveries.
