A Dallas County judge upheld a roughly $603 million verdict against C.H. Robinson in a fatal accident case, adding approximately $100 million in accrued interest to reach $700 million. The judgment stems from a fatal crash involving a Lupus Superior driver hauling a beverage load brokered by C.H. Robinson, killing three people. The court's ruling treated the carrier driver as effectively an employee of the broker, establishing liability extending multiple tiers down the supply chain from the initial broker. C.H. Robinson holds roughly $150 million in cash and maintains an investment-grade credit rating. The company announced acquisition plans for RXO and faces a strategic choice: settle or pursue appeals while interest accrues daily above 6%. Earnings results are scheduled for October 28. Meanwhile, Department of Energy diesel benchmarks rose 9.276 cents per gallon this week, reversing three weeks of declines.
