C.H. Robinson, the nation's largest freight brokerage, is rolling out its Lean AI Engineer this month as the next phase of its digital transformation. The tool continuously monitors supply chains to identify inefficiencies and potential problems while designing and implementing fixes. The company's Managed Solutions group said the Engineer complements its existing Lean AI Planner, which now autonomously manages 92% of shipments for 4PL customers. Unlike traditional auditing that reviews past performance, the Engineer analyzes historical and current data simultaneously across entire networks to proactively surface improvements. The Engineer operates continuously rather than periodically, addressing what executives called a gap in typical supply chain oversight. Robinson's AI investments have contributed to rising profitability amid workforce reductions, demonstrating measurable operational gains.
