Converting years of embedded market knowledge into actionable insights represents the critical hurdle logistics companies face when pursuing AI adoption, according to Dan Bailey, Co-Founder & CEO of Nexcade. C. Robinson's projected $300 million in synergies from its RXO acquisition underscores potential at scale, though execution risks remain given the companies' limited customer overlap and differing operational frameworks. Bailey notes that "context is the biggest challenge in our space," as turning embedded operational knowledge into insight that AI can use proves extremely difficult. The broader sector shows signs of rapid technology adoption, with Nexcade tracking 40 to 50 leading freight forwarders and logistics providers globally. Yet most quote requests—roughly 90 percent—still arrive via email rather than automated systems. Automated tools designed to read inboxes, classify freight types, and execute spot procurement lookups represent one path forward, enabling operators to review pre-staged quotes each morning. Bailey cautions that the challenge lies not in adoption itself but in measuring tangible returns and extracting value from complex, experience-based logistics operations.
