San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies recovered more than $123,000 worth of Brooks running shoes following a suspected boxcar burglary on a BNSF Railway train near Ludlow. BNSF Police requested assistance after the train made an emergency stop in the High Desert region. Deputies discovered two abandoned vans near the rail equipment and found numerous boxes inside each vehicle. BNSF Police confirmed the merchandise originated from the boxcar. The investigation remains active with no suspects identified or arrests announced. Authorities did not disclose how the boxes left the railcar or whether deputies recovered all missing cargo. The incident underscores rail theft vulnerabilities, as high-value freight can quickly transfer to ground vehicles and potentially evade detection by shippers and carriers. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact San Bernardino County Sheriff's Dispatch at 760-956-5001.
