California deputies recover $150K in New Balance shoes from BNSF boxcar theft

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department recovered more than $150,000 in New Balance footwear following a reported break-in at BNSF Railroad boxcars near Daggett, California. Leonardo Martinez Navarre, 29, was arrested after fleeing a traffic stop on westbound Interstate 40 Monday. Deputies spotted a vehicle matching the suspect's description and initiated a stop. Navarre exited and ran. Officers pursued him on foot and took him into custody. BNSF Police inspected the stopped vehicle and confirmed the merchandise originated from a boxcar. Navarre is listed as a transient from Perris, California, with BNSF Railroad named as the victim. Investigators have not identified additional suspects connected to the boxcar break-in. The railroad's route, shipper and intended destination remain undisclosed. The case continues under investigation.
