A California trucking company owner has pleaded guilty to orchestrating a multimillion-dollar scheme involving credit card fraud, identity theft and money laundering. Hasan Korkmaz faces charges on 18 counts related to the operation, which compromised personal information belonging to nearly 100 individuals. Federal investigators traced the fraudulent proceeds through international bank transfers. Korkmaz fled to Turkey for approximately 18 months before authorities apprehended him. The case underscores ongoing vulnerabilities within freight operations where access to employee and customer data creates opportunities for criminal exploitation. The guilty plea resolves charges of bank fraud, money laundering and aggravated identity theft. Prosecutors have indicated sentencing will follow.
