A California jury unanimously ruled that Elon Musk filed his lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman too late, dismissing all claims in the case. The nine-member jury deliberated less than two hours before determining Musk had exceeded the statute of limitations when he launched the suit in 2024. U.S. District Judge Gonzalez Rogers upheld the verdict, citing substantial evidence supporting the jury's finding. Musk had sought to remove Altman from his leadership position, alleging he and co-founder Greg Brockman breached their duty to OpenAI's nonprofit mission and unjustly enriched themselves. The decision concluded a three-week trial that examined the relationship between the two Silicon Valley figures, who co-founded OpenAI 11 years ago before parting ways over operational disagreements.
