Canada Post employees ratified two labor agreements, ending a protracted negotiations dispute. Rural and suburban mail carriers approved their contract with 86% support, while urban workers backed their deal at 89% during voting conducted April 20 through May 30. The new collective agreements remain in force until January 31, 2029, once formally signed by both parties. Canada Post indicated the signing would occur shortly but declined to specify timing. The ratification resolves a contentious bargaining cycle marked by strikes and operational disruptions, including overtime bans. CEO Doug Ettinger signaled the carrier would prioritize rebuilding customer confidence following the labor turmoil. Canada Post faces persistent headwinds from declining parcel revenue, making workforce stability critical to its financial recovery strategy.
