Carrier Logistics and LSP44 have launched a live partnership enabling shippers and third-party logistics providers to locate less-than-truckload shipments without a PRO number. The joint API accepts alternative identifiers including company names, delivery locations, shipment descriptions and approximate dates to search freight records automatically. The technology addresses a persistent industry pain point: when shippers lack correct tracking numbers, carrier customer service teams must manually locate shipments through phone calls and emails. Industry estimates suggest responding to tracking inquiries costs motor carriers upward of $10 per shipment. The partnership was announced at Carrier Logistics' user conference in Chicago on Friday, Oct. 9. By accepting multiple data points rather than relying solely on PRO numbers, the system reduces failed tracking requests. Carriers have historically treated manual tracking as an operational cost for decades.
