Major transportation companies are ramping up facility investments across the country to capitalize on rising freight volumes and export opportunities. Averitt Express, based in Cookeville, Tennessee, is constructing two regional campuses expected to open in 2028. The Louisville facility will feature a 50,000-square-foot cross-dock terminal expandable to 160 doors, plus 286,000 square feet of warehouse space and parking for over 300 trailers. The project will create 64 jobs while maintaining 182 existing positions. Near Charlotte, Averitt is developing a 100-acre campus with a 150-door cross-dock expandable to 200 doors and 500,000 square feet of warehouse capacity, adding 211 positions. The company also expanded its Ocala, Florida facility by 8,500 square feet of enclosed dock space, bringing total dock and warehousing capacity to more than 36,000 square feet. These expansions underscore carrier confidence in sustained freight demand growth across southeastern markets.
