Cathay Cargo Lifts First-Half Revenue 23% on Strong Tech Demand

Cathay Cargo posted double-digit revenue growth in the first half of 2026, driven by sustained demand for high-value technology shipments supporting data centre expansion. Tonnage increased 8.5% year-on-year to 869,000 tonnes, while revenues climbed 23% as cargo yield improved 18.1% on higher rates and fuel charges. The carrier expanded freighter frequencies on transpacific routes ahead of peak demand and launched a weekly Bangkok service in May, resuming dedicated freighter operations after a decade-long gap. Air Hong Kong will support capacity growth through additional Airbus A330 freighter services. Exports from mainland China remained resilient on European and intra-Asia routes. Southeast Asian shipments to the Americas showed strong momentum in high-tech electronics. Management expressed cautious optimism ahead of the upcoming peak season.
