Cathay Pacific's cargo division reported robust demand in May, particularly on key trade lanes between mainland China and Southeast Asia. The carrier moved more than 150,000 tonnes during the month, representing an 11% year-over-year increase. Available Freight Tonne Kilometres expanded 6% compared with May 2025. Through the first five months of 2026, total tonnage climbed 8% versus the same period last year. Technology and pharmaceutical shipments powered growth, with semiconductor and server deliveries within Asia and to the Americas bolstering specialist services. Pharmaceutical exports from Europe to China provided additional lift. Cathay Cargo is strengthening its freighter fleet with orders for two additional Airbus A350F aircraft, bringing total commitments to eight. The carrier will also operate a leased Airbus A330P2F freighter through Air Hong Kong, reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a leading international air cargo hub.
