Customs and Border Protection officers discovered approximately 450 pounds of cocaine beneath the modified floor of an empty semi-trailer at the Port of Buffalo in September. The narcotics, valued at $6 million on the street, were found in 174 vacuum-sealed packages during outbound inspection. A 21-year-old Canadian driver was transporting the commercial truck toward the border when officers noticed floor modifications during initial screening. A CBP canine alerted to the presence of narcotics, prompting secondary inspection. Advanced imaging technology revealed structural anomalies, leading officers to discover the hidden compartment. Field testing confirmed the substance as cocaine. The agency referred the case to Homeland Security Investigations Buffalo. Acting Port Director Sharon Swiatek praised the officers and canine teams for their vigilance and training, emphasizing CBP's commitment to outbound enforcement operations.
