Central banks across multiple regions are maintaining interest rates while assessing economic impacts from renewed Middle East hostilities, according to policy statements this week.

India's Reserve Bank said the economy retains underlying strength despite geopolitical tensions and an inadequate monsoon season that could pressure agricultural output. The European Central Bank opted to keep rates steady, citing the need for additional time to evaluate fallout from the Iran conflict. Ghana's central bank similarly held its benchmark rate, joining peers worldwide in adopting a cautious stance.

Shipping markets have already felt the strain. Asia-to-U.S. container rates surged 276 percent as carriers navigated supply chain disruptions tied to regional instability. The rate movements underscore how quickly geopolitical shocks transmit through global logistics networks, complicating planning for importers and exporters.
