China has committed to ordering 200 Boeing jets following discussions between U.S. and Chinese leadership, marking a significant commercial aviation deal. The aircraft types were not specified in the announcement, though industry observers anticipated the order could include Boeing's 737 Max, the manufacturer's leading commercial model. This represents the first major order Boeing has won from China in almost a decade. Some analysts had forecasted a substantially larger purchase of approximately 500 aircraft could result from the discussions. Boeing's senior leadership, including CEO Kelly Ortberg, participated in the negotiations. Neither Boeing nor the White House provided immediate official comment on the transaction details or delivery timeline.
