AerCap announced Wednesday that China Southern Air Logistics has committed to a long-term lease for three Boeing 777-300 Extended Range converted freighters. The move complements the cargo carrier's recent order for two classic 777 production freighters and five next-generation 777-8 cargo jets from Boeing. Deliveries of the converted aircraft are scheduled to begin in October 2027, with the remaining two aircraft arriving in the first half of 2028. The carrier plans to deploy the widebody freighters on intercontinental routes. China Southern Cargo, ranking among the world's top 10 cargo carriers by traffic volume, currently operates 12 Boeing 777-200 freighters and two 747-400 freighters. The conversion program, developed by Israel Aerospace Industries in partnership with AerCap, has delivered 11 converted 777-300 aircraft to date, with six additional conversions underway.
