A California Highway Patrol officer was killed Sunday evening in a motorcycle collision with a truck-tractor on State Route 99 near Tipton. Officer Brian Liles, 44, was traveling northbound south of Avenue 152 when the crash occurred around 5:11 p.m. A second vehicle struck Liles following the initial impact. Emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures at the scene, but Liles died on-site. Liles had served CHP for more than 16 years, joining the agency after graduating from the academy in 2010. He worked in San Jose, Hayward and Fresno before transferring to Visalia in 2019. He completed specialized motorcycle training in December 2025, joining the Visalia office's inaugural motorcycle unit. His death marks CHP's first line-of-duty fatality since 2020. The truck driver has not been identified. Liles is survived by his wife, two children, parents and two sisters.
