CLdN Leaps to 13th Place in North Europe Rankings After Samskip Acquisition

Luxembourg-based CLdN climbed four positions in intra-North Europe container shipping rankings following its June acquisition of Icelandic carrier Samskip's UK-continental Europe services. The transaction elevated CLdN from 17th to 13th among the region's largest operators. CLdN's operated container capacity surged to 6,300 teu from 2,750 teu year-over-year, driven by the Samskip purchase and its con-ro vessel fleet capable of deck-stowed containers. Samskip absorbed the steepest capacity decline among operators, dropping 40% to 5,800 teu and falling from 7th to 14th in rankings. The acquisition includes lease agreements for over 5,000 multimodal cargo units and supports more than 1,000 annual port calls. Intra-North Europe trade expanded 6.8% year-over-year, adding 20,000 teu capacity across 243 vessels averaging 1,294 teu.
