CMA CGM has acquired a substantial portion of FedEx's logistics operations in a $1.4 billion enterprise value deal, marking another step in the French carrier's vertical integration strategy. The transaction strengthens CMA CGM's Ceva Logistics division and expands its third-party logistics capabilities. CMA CGM Group Chief Executive Rodolphe Saadé told staff the acquisition represents a new chapter for Ceva, enabling the company to offer customers more integrated supply chain solutions. The deal follows CMA CGM's broader capital deployment initiatives, including a previously announced $20 billion domestic investment commitment. The acquisition underscores intensifying consolidation in the logistics sector as major ocean carriers seek to diversify revenue streams beyond traditional container shipping services.
