A Canadian National crew was rescued after a fast-moving wildfire threatened to consume their train in northern Ontario. The crew, stopped for a red signal and a meet with an oncoming train, radioed CN operations for urgent assistance as flames surrounded the locomotive. Video footage from inside the cab shows a massive wall of fire consuming trees adjacent to the tracks. "This could potentially overtake us here, this has gotten a little scary," one crewman stated as the firestorm intensified. Another crew member pleaded via radio: "Y'all need to hurry up here, like, seriously, we're encased in flames now." The oncoming train eventually emerged through the smoke at high speed. The wildfire then jumped the tracks, igniting vegetation on the opposite side of the locomotive.
