Container capacity on India-China routes is expanding rapidly as demand strengthens between the two nations. Ningbo Ocean Shipping entered the market this week through a slot agreement with X-Press Feeders, marking its debut in Indian trades with a call at Nhava Sheva Port. The service provides direct connectivity between major gateways in both countries. Ningbo-Zhoushan port, formed in 2006, ranks as the world's largest by cargo tonnage and benefits from extensive industrial clusters in the region. NOS claims it has booking partnerships with multiple carriers including Cosco, YML, ONE, HMM, Wan Hai, TS Lines and KMTC as it shifts from regional services to long-haul operations. CULines and Sinotrans Container Lines are also expanding aggressively on the corridor. CULines launched two new intra-Asia services last month targeting China-India flows, while Sinolines is evaluating additional port pairs to capitalize on regional growth opportunities.
