The US Consumer Product Safety Commission's mandatory electronic filing program took effect July 8, requiring importers to submit certificate of compliance data before CPSC-regulated consumer products enter the country. All compliance documentation now routes through the Automated Commercial Environment at the point of entry. Importers, customs brokers, and freight forwarders now face additional pre-arrival paperwork requirements during an already demanding regulatory period. Previously, compliance certificates could remain in physical files until needed. This shift to electronic submission at border crossing marks a significant procedural change for supply chain participants handling regulated consumer goods. Industry participants must align systems and processes with the new mandate to avoid delays and compliance violations.
