CSX Chief Operating Officer Mike Cory is exiting the railroad after roughly three years, with his departure effective May 8, 2027. Cory, who returned from retirement in September 2023 to join the carrier, will remain during a transition period working with leadership. Rather than naming a single successor, CSX will elevate two senior operations executives to report directly to President and Chief Executive Steve Angel.

Doug Ryhorchuk, senior vice president of Operations, oversees transportation, engineering, and mechanical functions. He spent nearly four decades at CN before joining CSX in 2024. Casey Albright, senior vice president of Network Operations and Service Design, has spent three decades at CSX.

CEO Angel credited Cory with achieving record safety and productivity levels while building a strong operations leadership pipeline.
