CSX has eliminated 109 operations management positions as part of a broader restructuring of its engineering functions. The cuts follow organizational changes outlined in spring and represent the latest workforce adjustments at the Jacksonville-based carrier. Of those affected, 58 employees were offered new roles within operations, while 51 received severance packages. Among severance recipients, 75% hold union seniority and may transition to craft positions where CSX maintains network vacancies. The railroad said the restructuring aims to create a more efficient operating model while preserving safety capabilities and customer service levels. The moves come as Chief Operating Officer Mike Cory announced his retirement, with his responsibilities reassigned to two existing executives. CSX conducted similar reductions in January, when it eliminated 166 management positions representing roughly 5% of non-union staff.
