Derek Taylor Named Chief Operating Officer at Genesee & Wyoming

Derek Taylor has been appointed Chief Operating Officer at Genesee & Wyoming Inc., taking responsibility for operations across more than 100 owned or leased freight railroads spanning 40 U.S. states and five Canadian provinces. Taylor brings more than 25 years of railroad leadership experience to the role. He most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Field Operating Officer at CN, a position he held since 2023. Based in Jacksonville, Florida, Taylor will report to G&W CEO Michael Miller. Miller praised Taylor's extensive background in network operations, service design and capital planning. "Derek is a seasoned railroad operator and leader who understands what it takes to run safe, reliable and customer-focused operations," Miller said. The appointment allows Miller to focus on customer experience, commercial growth, and strengthening partnerships across the industry.
