DHL Express is investing €300m across Africa by 2030, signaling confidence in the continent's emergence as a major global trade hub. This commitment reflects broader shifts in supply chain strategy as geopolitical tensions reshape commercial relationships worldwide.

UK-Africa trade reached approximately £52bn last year, though executives say significant growth potential remains untapped. DHL leadership urged British companies to treat African markets as both customer bases and sourcing destinations rather than concentrating exclusively on established European and US partners.

Hennie Heymans, CEO of DHL Express Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasized the investment reflected long-term confidence in continental prospects. John Cornish, CEO of DHL Express UK, warned that companies overlooking African opportunities risked falling behind competitors strengthening positions there. The UK's Developing Countries Trading Scheme could facilitate exports from eligible African nations, executives noted.
