The Department of Transportation allocated $62 million toward addressing the national truck parking shortage across Kentucky, Wyoming, Louisiana, Mississippi and Illinois as part of a broader $1.73 billion infrastructure investment program.

Kentucky received the largest award at $25 million to expand truck parking at seven rest areas spanning four major corridors. The truck parking initiative represents one component of 127 projects funded through the grant program covering highway, port, rail and aviation infrastructure across 52 states, territories and the District of Columbia.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced the awards. Highway projects claimed approximately 77% of total funding, with $24 million directed to North Dakota for pavement repairs and guardrail safety upgrades on Interstate 94. Additional investments targeted port modernization, rail expansion and airport improvements in multiple regions.
