The Department of Transportation is rolling out the American Supply Chain Sovereignty Initiative to accelerate cargo movement through major U.S. hubs and lower shipping expenses across the network.

The program centers on a real-time visibility dashboard connecting ocean carriers, trucking companies, railroads and major retailers including Walmart to critical infrastructure points such as the Port of Los Angeles. The system aims to eliminate supply chain bottlenecks and speed freight delivery.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated the initiative will prevent delays that drive up costs throughout logistics networks, ultimately delivering goods more affordably to consumers.

The initiative builds on the DOT's Freight Logistics Optimization Works platform, established in 2022 to address pandemic-related cargo constraints. The agency began publishing inland freight hub data in 2024.
