DP World is expanding its footprint across Africa with a $90 million investment in Angola's Port of Luanda, signaling confidence in the continent's long-term trade prospects. The investment will increase the terminal's annual capacity from 500,000 to 1.2 million TEU, addressing congestion issues while capitalizing on surging container volumes. Container volumes at the Luanda terminal have nearly doubled over the past five years. West Africa has emerged as a particularly attractive region for logistics operators, driven by favorable demographics and cultural dynamics. DP World's Luanda expansion follows earlier announcements of capacity additions at Dakar in Senegal, alongside operations in Mozambique, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The company is not alone in betting on African logistics growth. MSC's Terminal Investment Ltd secured a 45-year concession at Nigeria's Snake Island, while APMT committed $600 million in regional infrastructure development.
