DP World has entered exclusive negotiations to develop and operate a container terminal at the Port of Corpus Christi in Texas, marking the Dubai-based operator's entry into the U.S. market. The Gulf Coast port currently handles liquefied natural gas and crude oil exports but lacks container capabilities. DP World would design, build and operate the new facility to expand regional capacity and enhance supply chain connectivity. Houston's three container terminals handled just over 3.3 million TEU in 2025, operating at 85% utilization, signaling strong demand for additional capacity on the western Gulf Coast. Brian Enright, DP World's Americas chief executive, said the terminal would support job creation and attract new trade flows while generating economic value for South Texas.
